MODIFIED ASPHALT BLENDING EQUIPMENT

The major difference between ECOPATH and its competitors is that we offer not just the equipment but a complete technology transfer. Our in-house engineering group consists of highly qualified chemical, civil and mechanical engineers, providing an ideal combination of all related disciplines to ensure optimum equipment, process and road construction design.

We believe your modified binder should be uniquely designed by considering:

•    Market prices and availability of raw materials in your country/region
•    Climate
•    Your country’s existing paving material standards.
•    Traffic loading

Our solutions are always economically and technically optimized based on the above mentioned criteria.

Our engineering support can include engineering/economical calculations to obtain realistic numbers on return of investment (ROI) and other economically important numbers (considering given country/region material, labor prices, market needs, tax rules, etc).

ECOPATH also has the expertise to draft complete paving material specifications for different countries or regions, where a given modified binder standard does not yet exist.

Consistency and product quality require state of the art production equipment. ECOPATH equipment is designed with worker safety, efficiency and reliability  in mind, thus allowing trouble free production for the end user. ECOPATH Asphalt Rubber Blending Plants (ARBP) are custom-engineered to be compatible with any Hot Mix Asphalt (HMA) plant.

ECOPATH control systems are versatile and easy to operate. Real-time viscosity measurement and innovative design allows ECOPATH ARBPs to provide sustained binder production rates of 15 to 80 Tons/hr.

Polymer blending PDF Print E-mail
The processes by which the polymer is incorporated into the asphalt binder are extremely important. Years of experience and research have shown that identical concentrations of polymer modifier can yield modified asphalts with differing properties. These differences are due to the nature by which the modifier is dispersed within the asphalt, as well as the compatibility of the asphalt binder with the polymer modifier.

Following the incorporation of SHRP testing procedures and the PG grading system, polymer modified asphalts have gained popularity among state agencies prescribing performance graded products.  Ecopath equipment is designed with state specifications in mind; as such, PMA produced using Ecopath blending units is designed to meet SHRP PG graded binder requirements.

ECOPATH blending technology utilizes the Modified Asphalt Contactor™ reactor for the mixing tank. The higher effective blending and heating capabilities will allow milling to be accomplished in a single pass, eliminating the need for multiple passes. This will result in significant energy savings due to the large motor of the mill (typically 200-300 HP), which would otherwise be operated for three to six times longer. This also would result in reduced processing time.

Roofing equipment PDF Print E-mail
Our roofing asphalt equipment is designed to blend filles with asphalt cement to produce and economical asphalt roofing adhesive. It also functions as a booster to raise the tempetrature of this material.

The high dispersion mixin int he Modified Asphalt ContactorTM reactor (MAC) is achieved using the hydraulic head assembly, in conjunction with the unique internal vessel configuration, forcing the entire contents through multiple blending cycles every minute.
The MAC provides increased efficiency for roofing manufacturers by offering:
  • increased profits,
  • reduced maintenance cost,
  • superior dispersion of fillers,
  • intense mixing capability, enhancing quality through homogenous composition and temperature,
  • controller and minimal air treatment,
  • more precise temperature control,
  • reduced energy cost through its heat transfer effectiveness (heat jacketing - neat binder should not be so hot),
  • sunbstantially increased production capability,
  • less clogs and line shut downs than original mixers,
  • can be used as a booster heater too,
  • high chrome steel holds up to abrasive conditions,
  • MAC is 450- 500 gallons,
  • usually operates at 375-400 degrees Fahrenheit,
  • usually operates at 1800 RPM.

Emulsifier PDF Print E-mail

The Modified Asphalt Contactor™ reactor can be employed in the production of neat asphalt (bitumen) / modified asphalt (bitumen) - water emulsions (for both road and building industrial applications).

Regardless of the type of asphalt modifier, if it forms homogenous blend with the asphalt (in order for the finished product to have the desired mechanical and physical properties) it can be emulsified with water by using the Contactor reactor. Current production of this product is accomplished by multiple passes through a colloid mill. Product quality between batches is inconsistent and production time per batch cannot be accurately estimated. Using the Modified Asphalt Contactor reactor, ECOPATH designed a simple batch process that will produce this modified asphalt product. With this process, the product quality will be consistent and production capacity will be increased.
